EXTREMELY IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL GROUP MEMBERS

Today we lost a valued member of our HoE community. She has informed me that she no longer wants to participate in our exchanges - and I don't blame her for how she feels.

She felt she put a lot of hard work, love and care into a recent exchange. Unfortunately, her recipient did not acknowledge receiving the exchange by posting or emailing her. Her feelings were very hurt.

I cannot say how many times I have tried to reinforce in this group the importance of communication. I am so deeply saddened that we lost this member today. She feels strongly that the recipient of her exchange behaved rudely towards her.

If you feel you cannot 1) let the sender know you got your exchange, and 2) post about it here on the blog... with a picture too!!....

... then please let me know and I will remove you from the group. This issue has been brewing for a while, and now that we lost this member, I feel we can no longer tolerate ungrateful or careless behavior. There are some of you who are repeat offenders in this area... please recognize this and do the right thing.

Taking Sign Ups for Santa Ornament Round

Looks like it is time now to start sign ups for our next round as today is the mailing date for the Stitcher's Choice Round...

We had a lot of votes over the year for a Santa theme, so let's go with that to start off the year, get 2012 rolling.

For this round, you can stitch any ornament you want, as long as Santa appears in one form or other somewhere on your ornament ;-) As usual, no AIDA, please... linen and evenweave only.

Again, this will be a no-goodies exchange (stop breaking the rules folks, you make the rest of us look bad - LOL!)

I will take sign ups from now until 1/6/12.

Amy received my Christmas box on December 6th, so I'm posting a photo of it. It's my first attempt at Mod Podge. I stitched the JCS 2002 ornament titled, Christmas Peace by Heart in Hand Needlework using silks. I do hope she likes it.

Yesterday afternoon I received this wonderful ornament from Edgar!!! He stitched "Noel" from Heartstring Primitives " Tidings of Great Joy" pattern on 32ct Twilight Blue Joblean and instead of using the DMC threads called for he used NPI & HDF silks! I absolutely LOVE it and has now joined the other ornaments I have received from Edgar throughout the year on my tree. Edgar has his own section lol
He also included a yummy bag of chocolates which I have hidden from the rest of my family hehehe

Christmas Box Received From Gwen

Yesterday I received the most gorgeous Christmas Box from Gwen!! On the top of the box Gwen stitched Joy Ambigram by Meg Shinall from the TGOS Nov 2011 issue. Around the sides she stitched the 2 designs of A Colonial Christmas ornament by Cherished Stitches which is in the 2007 JCS ornament issue. And on one of the side panels she personalized it with our initials and HOE 2011. I LOVE her choice of designs and how she put them all together to make this gorgeous box. My pictures do not do it justice!
Gwen also included a needle minder, needle threader and a needle keeper which she also decorated for me.

I hope you received the email I sent to you Gwen. Thank You so very much for this beautiful treasure! I absolutely LOVE it!

Stitcher's Choice Christmas Ornament Round Now Open for Sign Ups

The final round of the perpetual Christmas Ornament Exchange (for 2011, at least!) will be a stitcher's choice round - no set theme, just stitch an ornament that you want to stitch for your partner!

I will take sign up names until October 31, 2011.
Mailing date will be December 15, 2011. If you receive a partner wo lives some distance from you, it would be most appreciated if you could/would mail even earlier than that - we all know how the postal system bogs down at the holidays!

Usual rules - NO AIDA. Also, no goodies - please, please, no goodies. It is just too hard for some and makes them feel bad to receive goodies and not be able to send them. Your ornament will be more than gift enogh for any of us!

Look at the adorable Halloween Scissor fob I received from Becky K!!! She stitched a part of "Boo To You" from Prairie Schooler on 32ct fabric and used the DMC threads called for. She also included a pair of scissors, a scissor sheath, a wonderfully scented candle and 4 Heath bars!! (I know there are only 2 in the picture. They are a favorite and I couldn't help myself lol)

Several weeks ago, I posted that I had received my pyn keepe, but that I had not yet opened it, as I had not sent one to my exchange partner yet. Well, as I mentioned earlier today, I finally got it into the mail (it had been waiting since late last week until I could get to the post office so I could send it registered mail.) Having finished my partners pin keep, I was happy to open this one. It is absolutely beautiful, and the encouragement I needed to bring out the autumnal/halloween decorations that have been boxed for most of the last 6 years. The pyn keepe looks absolutely fantastic among my felt pumpkins and fairy, don't you think?

Christmas Box Exchange

I think we should do a Christmas Exchange and what better than a "Christmas Box" of treats to send to each other.

You can stitch any "Christmas", "Holiday" or "Seasonal" piece but the finish must be in Box form. There are lots of box tutorials out there and they are really simple to create - and - there is plenty of time before the mail date. You can include treats and surprises in or with the "BOX" you send.

This exchange is open to all current members only of the HOE and the HOEII. I will be taking sign ups from today 9/29 until 10/13 with the names of partners being sent out on Friday, October 14th. the mail date is Thursday, December 1, 2011, you may mail up to two weeks in advance of this date.

I am sorry to be so long in posting but after a week out of work due to no electricity and messed up train service all due to dear Irene I am finally back at work and going crazy to get caught up. Also for some weird reason that I can't figure out my home laptop will not post to blogger.
My Autumn Pyn Keepe arrived from Edgar who did a super fabulous finishing on it. It is a JBW design on 32 ct. And every inch of it is perfect! I LOVE IT!

From Deanna I received my Lizzie Kate perpetual Christmas ornament. She stitched up a snowman. Isn't it darling?And last but not least I finally got my pyn keepe out in the mail yesterday. It should be at its new home very soon.

OK, Words of Christmas was voted in to be the theme for the next round of the Christmas Ornament Exchange. We had so many voters in the original blog, that I am wondering if folks who are not HOE members are voting too?

A Pyn Keepe for Fall

With all this hot weather I'm ready for some Fall stitching. So, let's make some Fall Themed Pyn Keepes .

This exchange is open to all current members of either HOE or HOEII - ONLY.

Rules are the same - any Fall design made into a Pyn Keepe. There are some excellent tutorials out there. Have no fear of this finish - Linen or even weave only, no aida.

Keeping it a stress free exchange - this will be a no-goodies exchange - only send the stitched piece.

I will take sign ups from today until August 3, 2011.

I'll get the partner names out on August 4, 2011.

Mailing date will Be September 2, 2011.

Isn't it gorgeous? Lisa stitched and finished this ornament beautifully. That little snowman likes to travel, because it came from the US, had then a trip to Europe (probably on its way to Austria) before it finally arrived at it's new home in Australia.

This exchange is open to all current HoE and HoE II members ONLY.

Yesterday I received the most Wonderful Snowman Ornament from Edgar!! Edgar stitched "Let It Snow" by CCN from the JCS 2008 ornamnet issue. He said he used basically what was called for in floss with a couple of changes. Whatever the changes were Edgar they are perfect!!
I have wanted to stitch this one for myself since first seeing it but never got around to it. Thank You so very much Edgar! You made the perfect choice for me :) I LOVE it!

There was a wonderful surprise waiting for me today in my letter box. My chosen season was Spring and Sarah chose to stitch a flower for me from the PS booklet "Garden Blooms". I'm really smitten with that. Not only do I love flowers - tulips are one of my favorite flowers. I also love the finish. It's a gorgeous heart.

I received a gorgeous pin pillow from Riona. My favorite season is Autumn and I just love the design that Riona chose to stitch for me. This is the first time I received a pin pillow filled with walnut shells. It's sure is heavy.

Riona's stitching and finishing are perfect. She added an acorn charm at the corner of the pillow, love it. I love the pin pillow and the buttons very much. Thank you, Riona, for a wonderful Exchange.

Today the mailman delivered a beautiful Snowman Ornament from Erin. I love this round ornament, the design is by Cathy Jean from the 2009 JCS Ornament Issue. Erin's stitching and finishing are perfect! She stitched it on 28ct Willow Green Jazlyn and used threads from her stash.
